Users affected by this problem have reported that the default browser goes back to Microsoft Edge regardless of how many times they change it to their preferred browser or what method they use to change their default internet browser.

For some of their users affected by this issue, Microsoft Edge becomes the default browser for only HTML and PDF files following reboots, whereas for others it becomes the default browser for all file types. However, while most users can successfully change their default apps back to their favorites after installing the Creators Update, for many the default browser changes back to Microsoft Edge – Microsoft’s half-baked and wildly unpopular internet browser for Windows – every time their computers reboot. The Windows 10 Creators Update is no different – when the update is downloaded and installed on a computer, all of the computer’s default apps are reset to their stock variants. While this can be pretty annoying, it isn’t really an ‘issue’ for users as they can just go ahead and change the default apps however they want to, even though Microsoft should come up with a way to prevent Windows 10 from doing this every time a major update or new OS build is rolled out.

The Windows 10 Operating System has the audacity to revert all of the changes users have made in terms of default apps for various tasks every single time a major update or a new OS build is downloaded and installed.
